D Series Heat Exchanger

D Series Heat Exchanger

D Series heat exchangers heat, cool, dehumidify, and filter low pressure air streams. Specifically designed for dairy applications, with optional HEPA filters and fully clad insulation, the modular D Series design can be easily modified for custom applications. Common Applications
Blower precooling, dehumidifying, aftercooling, and heating for dairy pneumatic conveying processes.

Pressure Housing
Heat exchanger cores are removable through the housing cover without requiring disassembly of the gas line.  Design pressures from full vacuum to 15 PSIG are available.

Heat exchanger housings can be built to contain several cores with separate or shared access panels.  Mist eliminators can also be built into a housing to prevent condensed moisture from carrying downstream.  The gas connection size and type can easily be changed to match system requirements.

Fin-Tube Core
The fins are rectangular plates with a matrix of die-extruded tube collars.  A sheet metal casing provides rigidity to the fin-tube assembly prior to tube expansion. After assembly, the tubes are expanded into the fin collars.  This allows for a gap-free connection, which maximizes heat exchanger performance and structural integrity.

Installation Considerations
The fluid circuit consists of several parallel tube circuits, which are joined at inlet and outlet headers. The circuits are designed to prevent trapping. To ensure complete drainage, optional intermediate drain headers are available. Attached at the 180 deg. return bends, they provide positive water drainage and protection from freeze-up.

To prevent metal work-hardening and failure, it is important to isolate the exchanger from vibration.  Pulsating flow produced by rotary lobe blowers must be dampened by a chambered silencer.

Xchanger engineers use a computer model to analyze heat exchanger performance based on the best available engineering practice.  A specifically designed program calculates housing material thickness based on the ASME code.
